Students at Saint Paul High School have channeled will.i.am and Fergie for a unique video project to showcase school spirit.
After months of preparation, staff and students came together Wednesday to film a lip dub video.
Not satisfied with merely lip synching to the Black Eyed Peas, the Saint Paul crew performed the song “Let’s Get it Started” in a single take.
During the three-and-a-half minute video, technology teacher Frank Fazzalari filmed a team of 35 senior students as they performed various parts of the song as fellow students lined the hallways.
The song begins with principal Jeff Smith at a desk and ends with Smith handing a student, decked out in a cap and gown, a graduation diploma.
Grade 12 student Klare Reddick was confident the school could pull off the video in a single take.
“Absolutely!” the 17-year-old said.
Reddick, who graduates in June, was eager to participate in the project.
“Saint Paul has been a great experience for me,” she said. “I’ve loved every year.”
The video showcased various aspects of Saint Paul life.
“It is showing all areas of the school from sports, co-curricular, academics and faith,” Fazzalari said.
“At this time of uncertainty in the province with a lot of teachers on work-to-rule or on strike, we want to show this is a fun place and a positive place and our main purpose is the kids.”
